GRANSOLAR MOVES INTO GUATEMALA 

Gransolar Group has initiated activities in Central America and the Caribbean region through is affiliate, Gransolar Centroamérica. The company was recently awarded the licences to build and operate a 5MW PV plant under the PEG-2-2012 bidding process to supply electricity to users of the DEOCSA, DEORSA and EEGSA distributor networks. In parallel, Gransolar Centroamérica is developing new Photovoltaic projects for a total of 30MW.

GRANSOLAR INCOPORATES IN SA 

Gransolar has incorporated a subsidiary in South Africa with local strategic investment specialists, Mistico Trading. The new company, Gransolar (Pty) Ltd, has full Black Empowerment status. The company will manage the O&M activities related to the two 75MW Lesedi and Letsatsi PV solar projects that Gransolar S.L. will build under round one of the IPP Programme. Additionally Gransolar (Pty) Ltd is actively pursuing other third party O&M, project development and BIPV opportunities throughout the country.

NTP GIVEN ON SA Projects 

Today Gransolar and its partners were officially given the “Notice to Proceed” under the EPC contract by developer Solar Reserve on their two 75MW PV plants awarded in the first round of the South African government’s IPP Programme. The plants, named Lesedi and Letsatsi are located in the Northern Cape and Free State respectively, will come online in 2014 and will make a significant contribution to the government’s objective to meet the country’s growing demand for power and help reduce carbon emissions.

GRANSOLAR LAUNCHES PV HARDWARE TRACKER

Gransolar, together with the support of a group of leading engineers from the US solar sector, have launched a new venture - PV Hardware - in Sacramento, California. The company will develop and re-engineer Gransolar’s established one-axis tracker system, the Axone (which is already in use in several of their plants) for deployment in the US market and beyond. Gransolar is already including the modified Axone system in bids in the USA and it will be commercially available by Q3 of this year.

GRANSOLAR ENTERS PORTUGUESE MARKET

Gransolar and its Portuguese partners have signed their first leasehold commitment to build a 6,0 MW PV Solar Plant in Coruche, near Lisbon. The project will be developed over the next two years and occupy an area of around 25 hectares. This initiative forms part of a larger 16 MW development which will be constructed by Gransolar under an EPC contract. The plant will operate with a tariff of 260€/MWh for 20 years and use Gransolar’s own Axone single axis tracker.
